New edition of the CEI 79-3 standard

CEI 79-3 is the technical standard of reference for the design, installation and maintenance of alarm, intrusion and robbery systems. It defines the minimum requirements and technical criteria to ensure safe, reliable systems that comply with the latest standards, reducing the risk of malfunctions and false alarms.

One of the fundamental objectives of this standard is to minimise false alarms, a problem that can lead to unnecessary intervention by law enforcement agencies, additional costs for users and a reduction in the perceived reliability of security systems. Thanks to the guidelines of CEI 79-3, systems must be designed and installed according to more rigorous criteria, improving the distinction between real events and false positives.

The new edition of the CEI 79-3 standard was published in December 2024 and officially came into force in January 2025. This update introduces significant changes to the design, installation and testing of alarm systems, with the aim of making the sector more structured and secure.
